Ananya Panday reveals being bullied in school
While interacting with Barkha Dutt on her We The Women segment, Ananya Panday opened up about getting bullied in school. Talking about being body shamed and the huge impact of social media on her during that time, the ‘Call Me Bae’ star said, “When I was in school, social media had just started. I was called all sorts of things, like hunchback, flat screen, chicken legs… That was in school, we were in our bubble. Now, because of social media, the smallest voice can be amplified. It did affect my self-confidence, it still does today. Self-love is a journey, not the destination.”
Ananya on people trolling her for her faking her education
During the same chat, the ‘SOTY2’ actress also spoke about netizens trolling her after someone spread rumours about her faking her education. She said, “When I had just started out, in my first year, someone made a fake account on Instagram and they started writing that they were in school with me and I was like this and like that, and I had lied about my education… And at first, I was like, ‘No one is going to believe that’. But people did believe it. And then, when it spun out of control, that really upset me.”
The actress later took to her social media and addressed the rumours of her education and revealed she had an offer letter from her dream university. Talking about the same, she now stated, “I didn’t want to do this. I didn’t feel like I needed to explain myself to anyone, but the rumours that I faked my admission at USC have been doing the rounds for a while now. They’ve been getting out of hand, and it’s even more unfair and sad that my family and friends have to go through this. As I’ve stated earlier, I was accepted by Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at USC for a major in Communication in the Spring 2018 semester”
